The services of Agnus Dei Old Catholic Society are often requested for the Rite of Holy Baptism of children and adults. We welcome all, who have not been baptized, to receive the power of The Holy Spirit through baptism, regardless of age or background.
What to Have Ready for the Rite of Baptism
For Baptism Ceremonies held outside of a church or chapel:
1. Select a man to serve as Godfather.
2. Select a woman to serve as Godmother.
3. Have ready two tables - one for candles, another for the font (bowl).
4. Decide if you would like to have family members deliver a meaningful reading as part of the ceremony. Samples of appropriate readings are available through Agnus Dei Old Catholic Society.
5. Have ready a white Christening garment for children to be baptized. Children to be baptized are brought to the ceremony dressed in ordinary clothing, then adorned in their white garment as part of the baptism procedure.
6. Make copies of "Rite of Holy Baptism" for all who will attend the ceremony. In this way, all can follow along and give response to prayers as in a church service.
